So the next Gong came out. Maybe 3rd time’s the charm? Considering that the second series lost my interest in episode 2, I still decided to give this one a go. This is mainly because I thing Lu Yi is practically phenomenal in everything he does and thus, this show deserves a chance. However, if it becomes a angst filled show about how the 2nd female lead gets in the way of the two main character 50% of the time, I will drop the recaps like a hot potato. No one wants to see the second female lead for perhaps 15% of the time (i’m being generous). So anyways this show is about how two babies that swapped lives fall for each other as adults and the trials and tribulations affect their love story.
*update, I just read something about this drama that makes me scared and intrigued. If you want to know there’s a more button at the end of this post, click on it and see.

These two can’t be together for an episode without fighting. Ah well.

Sorry about the hiatus. Here is your next installment of Lu Zhen, albeit a few months late!

To Lu Zhen and Gao Zhan, life and death are terms that have no meaning without each other. Neither are in a good place emotionally and have to fight tooth and nail to be together against forces bent on destroying them.

The stakes get raised as more and more people find Lu Zhen and Gao Zhan’s romance to be too serious. Lu Zhen’s status comes in between their togetherness as the two fight the outside forces trying to pull them apart.
So these two episodes see strides being made in the Emperor and the Royal Concubine’s relationship. Hello world! Lu Zhen Recaps are back on! A thousand apologies for the delay, thank you for your patience.
This is where Shen Jia Yan shines and rocks as an older brother. And Gao Zhan gets a lesson in Monogamy.

I liked so much of this episode, especially the last part. That being said, the main characters finally, finally see sense. As for the second male lead, I can see how some people like him and some find him tedious, but at least he’s pretty to look at. And Royal Concubine, your time to shine is coming soon…

Okay, so this episode builds up to the next two, which happen to be very good. That being said, there is slight character movement as one of our evil people is slowly learning to MOVE ON with her life. Yes ladies and gentlemen, the Royal Concubine is finally, finally developing some semblance of affection toward the Emperor. Also, Elizaphantrex, you are the best for being my editor. I would never replace you when you leave for the East Coast (US) in the coming weeks.
That being said, I’m currently looking for a new editor.

So, after some teasing and good advice from my dear Elizaphantrex, who incidentally will be moving far far away from me in a week (I will write you a proper goodbye on actual paper… and then forget to mail it to you, trust me, my intention was good, the execution will suck), I have decided to pick up where I left off recap wise. I am emotionally and mentally ready to be at the reins of this run away horse again.
Elizaphantrex: Awwww, you gave me the feels. I’ll be home for Christmas. Besides, the East Coast is only a facetime away! Although, I’m foreseeing the time difference may be problematic, since we already do our best work by dwindling candlelight. And dwindling candlelight on the West Coast is early morning on the East.
Also: This post was a lot longer. But because wordpress deleted EVERYTHING I wrote…. all two episodes of it… and I’ve tried to restore it to no avail, I’ll just post the episode I wrote again. I apologize to all my readers, I know how frustrating it can be to wait for a new post, and I promise that I’ll try to be more punctual.

Lu Zhen is like crack. It has some great moments and then terrible ones, you get a hit of the good stuff and it can last you until the next one, most of the time. Dear show, don’t make people wait too long. But in other news – this is the cutest picture ever.

The impossible and improbable has occured. Shen Bi and Lu Zhen are working together and not against each other. WHAT? Also, our second male lead who falls head over heels for Lu Zhen has finally decided to show up…. half way into the show.

Ah, I’m so happy to be finished with episodes 20-30 that this episode already feels like we are on the road to recovery. Here it is:

Here is a completely gratuitous picture of Chen Xiao. If you watch any of the episodes from 20 to 30, watch episode 25. Dear Elizaphantrex, I promise that it gets better after episode 3o. But I am grateful for all your help, without you I would have never gotten this far, grammatically.

It takes Dan Niang to knock some sense into a despondent Lu Zhen. Sometimes I think the side characters have the hardest job in this show. They have to herd the main character to the right conclusions. I raise my glass to Dan Niang, without you, this show might have stretched to 85 episodes, 70 of which focus on the numerous misunderstandings between Gao Zhan and Lu Zhen.
*Side note: Please welcome back my editor, Elizaphantrex!
