So here is another post on a drama that’s making me really hungry. As if I needed another incentive to head to China town and ordering amazing noodles. Sigh. But anyways, without further ado:
Dong Dong, Yang Wei, and Xue Heng are playing cards and complaining about the new guy, while congradulating each other about how the messed up his room.
Tang Qi Lin, their boss comes in and tells them they’ve screwed up majorly, don’t they know that Jiang Xiu Can was handpicked by Grandfather? the guys look at eacher other in horror.
Meanwhile Jiang Xiu Can is busily rearranging his room, placing his row (why of course he would have a row of bunnies) on his desk.
The guys come in to apologize and to get to know just how much this guy knew gramps. They really learn nothing and Jiang Xiu Cai asks them where to buy a phone.
Ling Ling has been saving up for something and she’s just reached her goal, when she hears Jiang Xiu Can knock on her door.
Turns out he wants to borrow money for a phone, she refuses even when he tries Aegyo.
The next day JXC (Jiang Xiu Can, I can’t keep writting his name, it’s just easier this way) is buying a second hand phone that he has bartered to 100 yuan with the store owner, he spies Ling Ling go into a knife shop. She’s mortified that he sees her, and tries to shoo him away.
But before that happens, she gets what she’s buying and JXC grabs the beautiful knife to examine it. It costs 18,500 yuan. He thinks that it’s for grandpa and Ling Ling, obviously hiding who the true owner is going to be, agrees with him.
She huffs angrily that he can’t follow her as they get out of the store.
JXC is practicing how to make noodles when his attempts only result in broken noodles, so he starts beating the dough and telling it to die.
Grandpa sees what he’s doing and comes over to teach him, realizing that JXC is a genius at creating good dough.
Grandpa tells JXC that he has the same passion for noodles as Grandpa did when he was young.
JXC comes to his dorm and sees Teng Yuan Hao there as his roommate. They are little kids around each other, TYH tells JXC to respect his space and they get into a faux fight.
TYH with a mini-katana and JXC with a dough roller. Neither actually has the guts to hit the other and while JXC tries to make friends, TYH tells him to respect the space.
The next day the kitchen is in turmoil as the noodle maker did not show up and no one knows where Xu Heng is. The dinner is for a very important client and his family, who are celebrating their grandpa’s birthday ( a very important occasion in chinese culture) But Tang Qi Lin, the head chef recommend Zhang Jian to be elevated from Lackey to noodle making chef. Grandpa interjects. JXC should do it.
At first everyone doubts his skills, but once they see him in action, they realized why Grandpa wanted JXC to do the noodle making. It’s called Kneading Hands – meaning someone who is naturally gifted with dough-making talents. Grandpa has it, and so does JXC (I kept laughing when I heard the term, but that is neither here nor there.)
Zhang Jian is pissed off that Grandpa let the young korean take over but his dad placates him in telling him that he is the true heir, Grandpa just appreciates talent. Yes, JXC will go far with his pair of Kneading Hands, but Zhang Jian is Grandpa’s very own son, he’s got Zhang blood in him.
The Birthday Grandpa tastes the noodles, and finds it to be amazing. Everyone applauds.
Okay – I’m going to be straight here. Seriously show? JXC has to only be tutored by Grandpa once and he’s allowed to make noodles as a chef? What happened to years of study, practice, and apprenticing? Also why do I feel no RAWR between Ling Ling and JXC? Some pairs have amazing chemistry, I haven’t felt it from those two. If this story doesn’t pick up soon, I can’t survive on cuteness and no substance alone.
